Air Caraïbes: driving fuel savings with data and an expert community!
Meet Air Caraïbes' Head of Flight Ops Engineering Department, Clément Cibot and discover all his insights on how the airline is optimizing fuel efficiency through advanced data analytics and sharing knowledge with the #SkyBreatheCommunity.
How has the implementation of SkyBreathe® Analytics improved your airline’s overall fuel efficiency and operational performance?
SkyBreathe® clearly made it much easier for us to access fuel data. Having all the queries available, we can study each flight one by one, or all flights, by specific destinations or by specific aircraft types.
Where we would use Excel files in the past, now we can use this very powerful tool, and it makes it so much easier for us! Whenever we need to study fuel consumption or to study safety reports, it's much easier.
What features do you find most valuable in your day-to-day operations?
We clearly use the Query Editor the most. It is very useful.
We have the possibility to select a specific flight, or all the flights, and get spreadsheets very easily. This is something that's very powerful because, from it, we can get all the data to create dashboards for all departments inside the airline, depending on what they want to analyze. This is the basis when it comes to big data.
We can get everything we want with the Query Editor, so we clearly use it on a daily basis.

Can you share your experience with our Customer Success Team?
Our Customer Success Manager is very responsive and helpful.
He will help us any time we request it, and whenever we don't think about some new best practice, he will be there to let us know: "Guys, there is something that you can do on top of everything you already do". He is at the beginning of many projects, and he'll give us all the good ideas that we need to make our flights greener and more efficient.
He's there for us, and we are very happy that he's also looking for all the good practices we can implement to optimize our operations.
What are the advantages of the SkyBreathe® Community for you?
As airlines, talking to each other is very helpful and useful. We try to do this any time we can, whenever there is a conference. For example, during OpenDay, we try to talk to each other because, just like with the Customer Success Managers, there can be some practices that we never thought of, and talking to other airlines can be very useful.
We operate pretty much the same aircraft types, and we sometimes fly to the same destinations, so there can be dozens of things that we don't think of, and learning from each other is very important.
This is something that we do, and we have to do for all the subjects, including OpenAirlines' tools, and making our operations more efficient and greener.
What motivated you to attend OpenDay 2024?
As for the previous question, it is very important to talk to other airlines. We are trying to look at all the ideas we can to get everybody involved in fuel efficiency. Not just the pilots or the engineers but also the dispatchers, the maintenance staff, or the ground operation staff. That is something we are going to think of during OpenDay.
What goals did you hope to achieve by participating in this event?
Figure out good ways to get all the pilots involved with fuel efficiency because sometimes some of them may not want to use green procedures or apply best practices. So, if anyone at OpenDay has a great idea that we never thought of, we would be very grateful to go back to Paris with it. As always, talking to other airlines is very helpful.
